A suspended pool design was chosen by Brisbane Girls Grammar School to save space on extremely expensive Spring Hill real estate. The pool was designed to duplicate its available footprint in undercroft, this space is currently used for an undercover play and storage area for the students. The pool was waterproofed using 500 + m3 of Everdure Caltite done in 2 pours. Site difficulties included an extremely steep access track for the trucks to meet the pumps. 2 pumps were run in tandem to push 50 m and elevate 20 m. Dosing was provided by Cementaid at the closeby Boral – Bowen Hills batch plant. The result has been extremely successful for Cementaid, m3architecture, Bovis Lend Lease and Aurecon. At times it would appear that there was more steel in the structure than concrete as seen by the pictures.
