CALCURE D Bondbreaker

Fast, efficient, economical and safe to use

Calcure D is used in tilt-up construction to both cure the ground slab and as the bondbreaker. Using one material eliminates the possibility of using the wrong material for the wrong purpose or of using two materials which are not compatible with each other. Contemplating the horror of a tilt-up panel not seperating from the floor slab due to a simple on-site mistake has led to the American Concrete Institute (1980) recommending that products like Calcure D be used in all tilt-up construction.

CURING:

As soon as possible after finishing, cure the ground slab with Calcure D, spray applied at the rate of one litre per 5 square metres, ensuring total and even coverage

BONDBREAKING:

Apply form work to ground slab and apply a second coat of Calcure D with fugitive dye at the rate of one litre per 5-7 square metres ensuring total and even coverage.

DRYING TIME:

Allow 2 to 3 hours for each application of Calcure D to dry.

ON-SITE CARE:

Place reinforcing without coming in contact with Calcure D, as Calcure D will prevent bond of concrete to steel. Do not walk on and do not allow Calcure D coats to be wet, as it will reduce its efficiency.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

It is highly recommended that an on-site trial be performed by relevant staff under supervision so as to be totally satisfied of procedure and success of this bondbreaking method under the site conditions.

PREPARING PANELS FOR SUBSEQUENT PAINTING:

Immediately before painting, lightly sand the surface with fine sandpaper to etch the film of the Calcure D to allow sufficient adhesion of paint, for appearance only. Squash court walls should be sand blasted with fine sand before painting.

We strongly recommend testing specific paint to determine adhesion.
